The Crisis
More than 2 billion people worldwide are starving and another 2 billion are malnourished. As the world population escalates towards seven billion after having tripled over the last hundred years, it becomes increasingly difficult to adequately feed struggling humanity around the globe. Climate change is exasperating the potential for drought and flooding, insect infestation and seasonal temperature shifts. The increase of chemical use, oceanic oil spills and other mass pollution is rapidly devastating global eco systems which have fed the human race from the beginning of time. The complication of globalization and the use of food for energy are also responsible for the misuse of food productions and poor distributions. Again, when Jesus said “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” it takes on an entire new meaning in the 21st century.
