When nations and people groups are forced to live under the oppression of immoral and corrupt leadership they suffer on nearly every level. The attitude of Christ was that he came to serve rather than to be served, even to the point of suffering and becoming a ransom to many. Those in leadership with the opposite attitude are often immoral leaders and dictators who use their positions for self interest and self gain. For this reason many nations evolve into a place where the general population becomes captive and vulnerable to every crises Isaiah 61 speaks of and everything Jesus came to liberate humanity from.
