Vineyard Food Pantry
The Vineyard Food Pantry:
The Vineyard Food Pantry is open Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 10-12 to serve the Treasure Valley area. To qualify to receive assistance through our food pantry, your income must not exceed the national poverty level. You may receive assistance through our food pantry once a month. We serve all members of the community without regard to race, nationality, or religion.
The food we distribute comes primarily from the Idaho Food Bank with fresh vegetables supplied in season by our ‘Garden O’ Feedin’, as well as local supermarkets as needed. Last summer (2009), we were extremely blessed by our garden. It alone supplied our community with fresh vegetables as the supply of canned vegetables at the Idaho Food Bank was extremely limited.
Volunteer Spotlight:
We have an amazing group of committed volunteers that give not only their time, but also their hearts serving in our pantry. While we can’t take this one opportunity to thank them all personally, Sharon Knox has committed her time to be our bargain shopper! She has an amazing gift of impressing the importance of our existence and convincing store mangers to help keep our shelves stocked by reducing the price of our most needed items. Thank you, Sharon for all your efforts!
Stats:
April 2010: 382 households served representing 1,341 family members receiving assistance with food.
