The Refugee Ministry at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Boise started in 2007 with the focus and aim of reaching out to refugees coming into the Boise area and being an aid and support to existing refugee relocation organizations. Today, the Vineyard Boise supports refugees living in our area through language skills training, driver’s education, and agricultural help at local community gardens designed for refugees.

Sunday Services– Boise Vineyard provides resettled refugees an 11:00 service on Sunday mornings which is preached in English and then interpreted in S’gaw Karen and/or Burmese. On occasion the service is preached by the Karen in their native language. After the service a time of fellowship is encouraged among volunteers and the
refugees.

Volunteer opportunities – Volunteers are always welcome to join us in coaching conversational English or becoming a life mentor. Mentors help the refugees integrate into life in America by teaching them self-sufficiency. The ultimate goal is for all volunteers and refugees to develop friendships.

Teen Outreach – Volunteers help the teenagers from our refugee community integrate into the Vineyard youth services. Currently volleyball is enjoyed by the teenagers on Sunday afternoons.

Child services – The refugees are encouraged to integrate their children into our Ezra Center, Sunday School programs. Making connections and friendships with the staff and American students.

We are always looking for new ways to reach out to refugees in our community. Please contact Scott or Michele Krahn (scottk@4iknow.com or michelek@4iknow.com) to find out how to join us or simply stop by after second service to meet the Karen and get connected.

How to get involved – the best way to get connected to certain aspects of your ministry. Maybe it’s attending a meeting or maybe it’s joining in an event or attending a class. You decide and make it known.
